Altostrat’s short link service transforms long, complex, and signed URLs into clean, trustworthy, and readable links. You will encounter these links in emails, notifications, and other communications from our platform. The service uses the dedicated altostr.at domain to provide a branded and reliable experience, ensuring that even lengthy links are easy to share and use. The process is fully automated to ensure both security and a seamless user experience. A long, signed URL is converted into a short link, and when a user clicks it, our service verifies the signature before securely redirecting them.

How It Works

From a user’s perspective, the process is simple and transparent.
1

1. Receive the Link

You will receive a short link from the Altostrat platform, for example: https://altostr.at/aBc123.
2

2. Click the Link

When you click the link, your browser is directed to our verification service.
3

3. Secure Redirect

The service validates the link’s signature in real-time. If valid, you are instantly and securely redirected to the original destination page.

Key Characteristics

Tamper-Proof Security

The core security comes from the original signed URL. The short link is just a pointer to it. Our service verifies this signature on every click, making the links tamper-proof.

Automatic Expiration

To enhance security and prevent stale links, all short links automatically expire after 90 days by default. Accessing an expired link will result in an error.

Rate Limiting

To prevent abuse and ensure service stability, we enforce a rate limit of 60 requests per minute from a single IP address.
If you encounter an expired or invalid link that you believe should be active, please generate a new one from the platform or contact our support team for assistance.
